This funding will support state- and locally-led projects of all kinds, adding to the pipeline of projects that will be delivered in the coming years and decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s awards announcements will:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"1\"><strong>Enhance rail along the Northeast Corridor (NEC)<\/strong>\u00a0with $1.4 billion in funding for 19 projects that will provide faster, safer, more accessible, and more reliable rail service for travelers and commuters along the NEC \u2013 the busiest rail passage in America.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"1\"><strong>Strengthen supply chains and improve port efficiency\u00a0<\/strong>with nearly $580 million in funding for 31 projects that will increase both the capacity and efficiency of ports in 15 states, including coastal seaports, Great Lakes ports, and inland river ports critical to regional economies. These port improvement projects announced today will strengthen supply chain reliability, promote workforce development, enhance freight efficiency, reduce emissions, and improve the safety, reliability, and resilience of our ports. \u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"1\"><strong>Improve safety on our roadways\u00a0<\/strong>with $172 million in funding to 257 local, regional, and Tribal communities for planning and demonstration projects that will help prevent deaths and serious injuries on America\u2019s rural and urban roads, including some of the most dangerous roadways in the country.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"1\"><strong>Support domestic manufacturing of sustainable transportation materials<\/strong>\u00a0with $1.2 billion in funding for 39 state DOTs to accelerate the use of cleaner materials that are critical to building safe and sustainable infrastructure for the future.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Read more about these announcements in our newsroom<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration passed the biggest infrastructure bill in generations\u2014and did so with the support of both Democrats and many Republicans in the House and Senate,\u201d said<strong>\u00a0U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cToday, on the third anniversary of the signing of this historic law, we\u2019re in the middle of an infrastructure decade unlike anything this country has seen since the time of Eisenhower and the Interstate Highway System. The 2020s will be viewed as a turning point that ushered in the improvements that will sustain our 21st and even 22nd century economy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (also known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) in November 2021, he committed to delivering once-in-a-generation investments to rebuild America\u2019s infrastructure and competitiveness. Today, the Biden-Harris Administration is breaking ground and cutting ribbons on projects across the country to rebuild our roads and bridges, expand passenger rail, improve and upgrade ports, modernize our airports, and build a clean energy economy for all Americans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To date across the Biden-Harris Administration, nearly $570 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has been announced for over 66,000 projects and awards in all 50 states, D.C., and U.S. territories.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">196,000+ miles of roadway are being repaired or improved from coast to coast \u2013 enough to cross the U.S. 65 times.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">11,400+ projects to build, repair, or modernize America\u2019s bridges are moving forward.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">630+ transportation projects have been announced across more than 195 Tribal Nations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">580+ port and waterway projects have been announced by either U.S. DOT or the Army Corps of Engineers to strengthen supply chain reliability, speed up the movement of goods, reduce the costs of everyday items, and lower carbon emissions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"5\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">1,500+ airports are modernizing their terminals, expanding operations, or improving their runway infrastructure.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"6\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">1,600+ communities in all 50 states have been funded to improve roadway safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" data-aria-level=\"1\" data-aria-posinset=\"7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-listid=\"2\">Nearly 320 rail projects nationwide have been announced, including those that will modernize and expand America\u2019s rail network, deliver the first high-speed rail systems in the country, replace aging infrastructure on America\u2019s busiest
